A painter puts thoughts onto
canvas. These thoughts could be serene, perhaps like
a beautiful landscape, or political, like graffiti
on the Berlin wall. What comes out of Kathrine
Piper's mind is entertainment.
Kathrine often thinks back to her days living in New
York City (which included a few years at the famous
Hotel Chelsea) and the visually vibrant streets
around Times Squares.
Her work in NYC as a costume designer for sixteen years immersed her in the entertainment field.
Wardrobe styling at Comedy Central was about having fun and there was nothing more "over the top" than the costumes at the Metropolitan Opera,
where she spent eight years as a costume shop supervisor.
Now a full time artist, Kathrine opts for vibrant colors reminiscent of those blinking lights of Times Square.
Viewers of her work will also note the unavoidable influence of costume design.
Presently she lives in New Hampshire with her husband and daughter.
